Singer Ciara had a brush with cops on Tuesday night, May 11 when a playback of her new songs prompted complaints from local residents. The “Goodies” hitmaker was celebrating a pal’s birthday in Los Angeles when they decided to continue the party in a nearby parking lot.
Ciara insisted it was the perfect time to unveil her latest recordings to her friends – but their raucous reactions resulted in a visit from police officers. In a series of posts on her Twitter she writes, “Tonight was sooo much fun!! I originally had plans to go to the Victoria Secret party, but that changed (at the) last minute… and I headed to celebrate my friend’s birthday party!”
“It was sooo much fun, and the funny thing to top it off was we all decided to go to a parking lot and play a few of the newest songs I recorded and we realized we had the music just a little too loud because the police came by and said they had received reports of loud music!! But thank God we had the music down in time, and there was no trouble with the po po (police).”
And the singer even managed to charm the two cops into posing for pictures:
“We actually ended up taking photos together!!… Here’s a pic of me and the police officers. Thought it (would) be fun to share my night with u!”

Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse have reunited to record an upcoming album in honor of music industry legend Quincy Jones – two years after the pair was originally slated to start the project. The superproducer was at the mixing deck for Winehouse’s 2006 global smash “Back to Black” and the pop star returned the favor the following year by singing “Valerie” for Ronson’s covers compilation “Version”.
Ronson was then due to return to the studio early last year with his muse to record a new version of Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” for the Jones album, but that plan was dropped as Winehouse escaped to the Caribbean for an extended sunshine holiday.
But now the former collaborators have patched up their friendship and working relationship – Winehouse’s father Mitch has confirmed the artists are busy working with Jones on the project. He says, “Over the weekend she did three tracks for Quincy Jones. She’s doing great.”

Nas has had to scrap his upcoming London concert with Damian Marley as a result of the flight chaos caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Air travel across the whole of Europe has been disrupted for days due to the heavy cloud of volcanic ash floating above the continent, which can cause jet engines to fail.
Over 63,000 flights have been canceled, costing airlines $200 million a day and affecting six million passengers worldwide – and Nas and Marley are among those who have been forced to alter their travel plans.
The pair was due to perform at London’s Electric Ballroom on Wednesday, April 21 in support of their new collaborative album, “Distant Relatives” – but that show has now been shelved because they are unable to fly over from the U.S.

Maybe it’s a case of Akon sticking up for his signee Lady Gaga and all, but he held no punches in a recent interview with Vibe:
“Aw man, that’s not even any competition,” Akon tells Vibe. “You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.”Akon continues, “Christina shouldn’t have anything to prove or anyone to compete with. I miss the old Christina Aguilera. I like the old one better than the new one. Honestly, Gaga and Christina could probably get together and do something that’s amazing. But that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same exact thing musically.”
Umm wasn’t Christina already a huge star before Gaga hit the scene?
